When Michael K. Cobb, Chairman and CEO of ECI Development, first came to Belize in 1993, he saw this “really wonderful and quaint little island with sand streets and mostly empty restaurants”. Dear Friend,

The ECI business model is based on centuries of existence, and developing sustainability is a major priority for us. We commit to conservation efforts for all our communities and give back in ways that have the most impact. With protection and preservation comes our commitment to build a clean future. And we have implemented many strategies that emphasize reducing, reusing, and recycling.

Each year, ECI hosts its Annual Shareholder’s Meeting in Latin America, and this year’s event was held on Ambergris Caye, Belize. The shareholders concluded the two-day event with a “Day of Service,” which consisted of a beach clean-up.

It is no secret that tourism in Belize has risen significantly. The tourism industry accounts for a large portion of the country’s economy, with Ambergris Caye generating over two-thirds of the revenue. Belize’s government is impassioned to use the Caye to continue to build a reputation for the country, inviting brand name developers to build luxury accommodations to increase job opportunities and bring more awareness to Belize as a travel destination.

I’ve said it many times, but one of my favorite parts of Belize is that there is no shortage of entertainment happening in this country. There are many folks who have discovered Belize’s plentiful attractions, therefore more and more people, including celebrities, are seeking Belize as their “go-to” retreat for entertainment and also for privacy. Celebrities, like everyone else, enjoy the sea, sand, and sun. Some of the celebrities spotted in Belize recently may surprise you.

Along with Belize’s numerous attractions are the numerous changes that have taken place in this country over the years. I first came to Belize in 1993 and I saw this wonderful and quaint little island of Ambergris Caye with sand streets and mostly empty restaurants. In these past 25 years, I have had the privilege of witnessing the incredible growth and development that has brought real progress to this island in countless ways. These waves of change are incredible waves of opportunity. It’s fantastic, wonderful, and magical.

Until next time,

” ECI is just a solid, wholesome company. You meet the founders, and the people, and they’re just happy. You know anything Mike Cobb tells you, you can take to the bank. It’s like your brother telling you, or even better. This is my first trip to Gran Pacifica, and it just feels like home the moment you get here. Very comfortable, just like old time United States. It has the sense of community that people lost in the US, and I think that’s the most important thing. You really can’t put a dollar value on it, but you know it when you see it, and it’s here.

Coming from a construction background, I can see that everything here is built to last, and there are a lot of little details that were thought of. Looking at the growth here, it really seems to be a solid investment, and it’s also just such a great atmosphere. It’s hard to put words to. It’s really the whole mix of things, trustworthy, common sense people, great climate, real community, and sensible growth. Mike Cobb is a person with a dream, and he’s really making that dream happen here. That’s something you don’t find every day.”
