Dear Friend,

Ah yes! Each New Year is indeed a fresh start. A new beginning. It is a time to reflect on what we accomplished the previous year and what we still need to or would like to put into motion in the new year. At the proverbial ‘end of the day’, it really is all about setting goals more than making resolutions. Since resolutions tend to fall by the wayside fairly quickly, like going on a diet, setting goals tends to make the most sense. So, whether we have short-term or long-term goals, or something in between, setting goals for ourselves is the best approach to bringing about the most amount of positive change.

The amazing Dr. Carl Ross has certainly redefined what is means to be a goal-setter and positive change-maker in our world. And for all the positive changes in the lives of his patients, during his 100th medical mission to Nicaragua, he was awarded with the highest honors from the Universidad de Politechnica in Managua, Nicaragua. Also read about the incredible journey of Elkin Zapata, who 10 years ago, received a life-saving and life-changing surgery from Dr. Ross.
Gran Pacifica’s newest residents, Mark Davison and Lyn Suderman moved from Vancouver, Canada to Gran Pacifica recently. They talk about their new, blissful lives and building their energy-efficient dream home in our community. We are extremely happy to welcome them and wish them much happiness and continued bliss.

One of our very own Property Liaisons for Gran Pacifica, Jamie Cain, talks about her second trip to Nicaragua, this time flying solo. She describes the scenery as a lush and beautiful land, with fairy-tale like qualities. I couldn’t agree with her more, as there’s nothing quite like butterflies to add a certain fairy-tale like charm to almost anything.

At Gran Pacifica, two of our top priorities is to make sure our beach stays pristine, and to help preserve the lives of The Giant Sea Turtles- whose little quarter-sized, lives begin at our Turtle Sanctuary. Last month, the Corporate Social Responsibility Team invited local students to take part in our beach cleanup and learn more about the Giant Sea Turtles. Needless to say, the children and everyone else involved had an exciting time, ate a delicious lunch at the SeaSalt Restaurante, and ended the day with soccer and a swim.

Belize has also made some positive changes that I am really excited about. They have taken steps to put into motion a full service International Airport on Northern San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. This will be Belize’s second international airport and will make traveling to San Pedro so much easier. It will also bring long-term socio-economic benefits to this beautiful country. There are definitely some great things in store for Belize and I can appreciate the goals these remarkable people are setting.

For many of you who are pet owners and will be staying in Belize for an extended period of time, or if you are making more of a permanent move to the country, you won’t want to miss the article “Bringing Your Pet to Belize”. This guide will assist you in making sure all your t’s are crossed and your i’s dotted to avoid any unnecessary delays or pet quarantine. After all, it is everyone’s goal to make settling in with those furry family members a quick and easy transition.

Until next time,

” ECI is just a solid, wholesome company. You meet the founders, and the people, and they’re just happy. You know anything Mike Cobb tells you, you can take to the bank. It’s like your brother telling you, or even better. This is my first trip to Gran Pacifica, and it just feels like home the moment you get here. Very comfortable, just like old time United States. It has the sense of community that people lost in the US, and I think that’s the most important thing. You really can’t put a dollar value on it, but you know it when you see it, and it’s here.

Coming from a construction background, I can see that everything here is built to last, and there are a lot of little details that were thought of. Looking at the growth here, it really seems to be a solid investment, and it’s also just such a great atmosphere. It’s hard to put words to. It’s really the whole mix of things, trustworthy, common sense people, great climate, real community, and sensible growth. Mike Cobb is a person with a dream, and he’s really making that dream happen here. That’s something you don’t find every day.”
